XTREME DELIGHT FOR COSTELLANO
The 3rd annual XTREME CHALLENGE at Catton Hall Estate today (Sunday February 3rd) was won by Birchfield Harrier Costellano Tanausu in a remarkably fast time of 36:58 with conditions very muddy underfoot and considering the increase in the nature of the obstacles and obstructions designed by us. Second home was Kristian Edwards in 37:50 followed in third place by Jon Hill in 39:03.
First female athlete home was Nivette Mullen of Badgers RC in 51:38, in second place was Jen Seager in 52.01 followed in 3rd place by Laura Appleby in 53:11.
Nearly 300 registered, the highest yet for a fledgling event that attracted the high accolade of 4th place in a Runners World adventure race of 2012 poll. The feedback from participants was hugely positive, the work to ensure the 2013 was the most Xtreme Challenge yet and Kevin Wilson of KP Events promised more work to increase the Xtremity level in 2014:
Our friends at the Estate along with Paul and myself at KP Events are already planning changes in 2014, we’ll use areas in the Estate as yet unused, look to a 1 lap circuit with more use of the wonderful natural features as yet unused to vary the terrain and add new twists. We want to evolve, we want participant feedback too, and above all, we want to be top 3 in Runners World for 2013. Kevin Wilson of KP Events

Had a wonderful time today. Great muddy fun. A very well organised event. Great to be able to grab a well earned burger and cup of tea at the end. Everything aches now but will be back next year! Thanks for putting on the race. Gabi Watts
Four of us entered today from Nuneaton Triathlon Club our first extreme challenge and loved every six miles of it. Well organised and what a bunch of friendly marshalls. See you next year. Jimmy Dewis, Cheryl, Andy and Steph – Nuneaton Triathlon Club
This was my first time at the 10K Extreme event – I would just like to say well done to KP events! It was a brilliant cross country/obstacle course which I really enjoyed. Definitely will be back next year and look forward to the course being developed further. I will be recommending this race to my fellow runners. Owen Slater
Had an amazing time yesterday. Thanks to the organisers for putting on such a great event. I WILL be back next year. Dave Knight
Thank you KP Events, the Xtreme Challenge 2013 was fantastic fun. It was cold, very wet, very muddy and very hilly everything I wanted out of my first Xtreme run… I thought the organisers and their staff were great and found everyone competitors and officials alike to be really friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be wearing trail shoes next year!! Bill Simpson
Really enjoyed xtreme challenge 2013. Most fun I have had whilst running. Lots of mud, water, obstacles and smiley faces. Already looking forward to next years event. Jonny Frost
Really good event, the idea of a huge one lap is a good idea, obstacles were good, maybe just add a 10ft/8ft wall and large cargo net? Hope that helps but was really good, be back next yr. Ash from Atherstone Leisure Complex + 9 members who took part.
