A record turn out on a perfect late autumnal morning today ( November 30th ) saw the perfectly named Michael Kingsbury of Charnwood AC win the Running Form Kingsbury Water Park 10k in a remarkably quick time of 36:13 considering the very muddy terrain the runners experienced around the majority of the rugged terrain.

Kingsbury led from the horn at 10.30am and proceeded to fly around the course to finish over 2 minutes in front of second placed Chris Horton from the Badgers Running Club ( 38.36 ) and third placed Ashley Baldwin ( Peel Roadrunners) ( 39.07)

First female home was Monica Lampart in an excellent 43.11 followed closely by another Badgers RC runner Holly Cherry ( 44.18) and Ute Baird in third ( 44:22 ) The first three are pictured.

Sean Byrne followed up his recent win in the Tamworth 10k with a repeat result at the Kingsbury Water Park 10k. Byrne found himself out in front early on a bright windy morning with heavy conditions underfoot which steadily worsened as the 200+ field ran their way round the mainly cross country 2 lap course. Byrne came home in a very creditable 32:46 with fellow Tamworthian Phil Clamp coming second in 34:27 and Tom Smith a valiant 3rd in 34:41. The leading female athlete home was Rina Kuuseloin 39:03 with Nivette Mullen second in 44:35 and Helene McLeish third in 46:05.

Event – Kingsbury Water Park 10K – 10th Nov 2013

kingsbury water park 10k
In November we’ll be holding our 4th 10k off-road race at Kingsbury Water Park – a beautiful venue belonging to Warwickshire County Council situated in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside between Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield.

The 10k is an approximate distance due to the nature of the course and is a two lap race following a route that is mainly off road through magnificent scenery. Two laps of footpaths, grass tracks and a short tarmac section twisting around the lakes and pools of the water park, with a section alongside the river. Race start time is 10.30am.

kingsbury-water-park-3-1-13This Sunday’s (January 6th 10.30a.m) KINGSBURY WATER PARK 10K event is scheduled to go ahead as planned.

We have visited the venue again today (Thursday January 3rd) and cycled and run the route to have a better idea as to how conditions were underfoot and although the route is very wet and very muddy on the offroad sections, generally the situation overall is best summed up in the adjective ‘CHALLENGING’ !!! Event – KINGSBURY WATER PARK 10K – 6th Jan 2013

The rescheduled date for our CTC PHYSIOTHERAPY KINGSBURY WATER PARK 10k is now Sunday January 6th 2013 at 10.30am.

Sponsored by CTC PHYSIOTHERAPY.ctc-physio

This decision to reschedule had to be taken due to flooding in Kingsbury Water Park, and Warwickshire County Council gave us their guidance linked to local weather forecasts.

All people registered will be transferred to the new date and retain their race number unless anyone requires a credit transfer to another of our events (other than Lichfield Half Marathon on May 5th) or anyone requires a refund. Please note: refunds may be less than paid if Runners World website was used to book – due to the organisations administration charge for using their site.

Through website post, texts, emails, phone calls, Twitter, Facebook and early decision to postpone – every runner was made aware of the postponement and thankfully no-one turned up at the park on the day. The power of modern technology and social networking!

We look forward to the new date, we know you are looking forward to it and for many it’ll now be their first run of the New Year!!

ute_bairdphil_clampTipton Harriers veteran athlete Phil Clamp won the second running of the KP CORPORATE KINGSBURY WATER PARK 10K on Sunday Nov 27th in windy but fine conditions on a course that had plenty of muddy paths and wetland areas to make it a testing event for all 300 + who entered.

Clamp, an expert runner in the cross country genre started strongly and gradually eased his way to the front early on and left the others to do the chasing in the vain hope of catching him, but his time of 33:21 was testament to his abilities in tough conditions. First woman home was Ute Baird of Team Raidlight in 43:07.
