NEWS UPDATE – The World’s Shortest Fun Run

At the World’s Shortest Fun Run world record attempt around the smallest park in the UK (Princes Park in Burntwood 19th Sept) scores and scores of wackily dressed ‘runners’ turned up to have fun and raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice. Their mascot, Alex Acorn, celebrated his first-ever fun run medal in style as he whizzed around the 55-step Park circumference with Steve Jones Chairman of sponsors Crown Highways in tow. His company being massive supporters of the hospice as their charity of choice.

The weather was wonderfully late summery and helped create the zany atmosphere and build a real buzz in the air. Gym instructors from Freedom Leisure Burntwood helped runners to warm up ready for their turn to run.

Radio WM did a live broadcast as the event started, and the staff of organisers KP Events ensured that the day went well and everyone had a great time.

Kevin Wilson of KP Events said he was happy with how things had gone: “This has to be my favourite KP Events event, anybody and everybody can do it and get a medal as a reward too! All entry fee income will go to Acorns Children’s Hospice which is great news, we hope it’ll become an annual event and become part of the cultural heritage of Lichfield and Burntwood areas”.

EVENT – Birmingham Insurance Institute 5k and 10k Run – 20 March 2022 – Tamworth

runners general

Existing registrations will automatically be transferred to the new date.

Unfortunately, due to the continued risks of Covid-19 we are having to postpone the Birmingham Insurance Institute Fun Run, due to take place on the 21st March 2021. Initially, we looked to host the event later in the year, but following discussions with our event partners KP Events and due to the uncertainty around when mass participant events might be able to take place again, we have made the difficult decision to postpone until March 20th 2022, when we hope things will be back to normal. Covid-19 has had a significant impact on everyone, especially those in the events industry and charities who rely on donations from events such as these, so we hope you’ll support the new event date and help us make the run bigger than ever. As a result, entries will automatically be transferred to the new date in 2022.

Event starts: in 4 months, 25 days, 0 hours, 39 minutes, 31 seconds.

Start/Finish: Castle Grounds Tamworth. 10.30am 20th March 2022.

KP Events is working with the Birmingham Insurance Institute (BII) for the first time to host their annual charity event.

The route follows our popular Tamworth 10k course which is a 2 lap 5k loop so you will follow either 1 or 2 laps to complete the run.

Whether you’re a serious runner or just fancy a Sunday jog with the family around the beautiful castle grounds, this run is for you!

The profits from events organised by the Birmingham Insurance Institute Young Professionals during the year are donated to the BII President’s chosen charity for the year, The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone, and/or The Insurance Charities. Thanks to Allianz Insurance, Centrix Underwriting and Idex Consulting who are sponsoring this event.
