Whether you’re a serious runner or just fancy a Sunday jog with the family around the beautiful castle grounds, this run is for you! Please note all minor’s must run or be accompanied by an adult.
The Florette Fradley 10K is a popular run and attracts around 1,000 entrants each year. Covering flat, country roads, it’s a great event for beginners and pros alike. The Fradley 10k has previously been nominated in the National Running Awards for the best 10k race for personal best times.
Local athlete Ashley Baldwin from Tamworth AC won the Tamworth 10k ( Sunday October 16th) in near perfect sunny autumnal running conditions, winning in a fast time of 33:07 and followed closely home in second by one time GB international athlete Gemma Steel of Charnwood AC in 33:25. Third home was Henok Asmelash of Warley Wood Pacers in 35:30.
Second female athlete home as Lucy Calrow of Wolverhampton and Bilston AC in 38:14 and third female home was Catherine Glover in 39:50.
The Tamworth 10k 2022 will be held on the 16th Oct 2022 and will start and finish in the beautiful grounds surrounding Tamworth Castle and will wind its way through the grounds and out into the town, then follow a canal section in Fazeley, before returning to the Castle Grounds. The Tamworth 10k was voted 4th best 10k in the UK by Runners World in 2013 as its scenic but mainly flat 5k loop course takes in some of the town’s best scenery with its start and finish set in the popular Castle Grounds leisure facility with its gardens, sports amenities, walkways, and cafe.
The Four Oaks Financial Services Lichfield Half Marathon (Sunday 18th Sept 2022) was won by Birchfield Harrier Jason Bennet in 1:10:56, followed by Ben Plummer in 1:12:10 in second place and Daniel Floyd in 1:14:36 in third place.
First female across the line was Olivia Harris (Royal Sutton AC) in 1:25:53, second place was Kelly Butler 1:30:01 and third place was Charlotte Beddow in 1:34:00.
